OUR HISTORY

After facilitating her own personal trade mission between Kenya and the Los Angeles garment district in the area of women’s apparel, Judi Minage was inspired to launch an organization that would expand this vision into a full conference and trade expo covering multiple industries. Joining with like-minded minded individuals resulted in the founding of AFRICA TRADE LINK AND EXPO, INC. (ATLE) in the summer of 2013.

Shortly thereafter other equally inspired individuals and organizations joined the collaboration and by the summer of 2014, ATLE hosted its first trade expo in Nairobi, Kenya. From July 23rd – 27th, 2014, the inaugural trade expo was successfully hosted at the Kenyatta International Conference Center in the bustling central business district of Nairobi.   Several hundred business professionals and entrepreneurs from all over Kenya and East Africa attended the conference. ATLE was not only enthusiastically received by the business community but also leaders in government and the civil society organizations as well. We were most fortunate to have the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Commerce Department in Kenya open the ceremonies.

Several key contacts as well as strategic alliances were realized. Fortune again shined upon us as our delegation was invited to attend an event hosted by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KNCCI) where President Uhuru Kenyatta and his cabinet spoke to a large audience of business professionals.   An agreement of mutual support between KNCCI – which is the largest NGO of its type in Kenya with several thousand members – and ATLE was formalized subsequent to this event. Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) is another key organization and strategic alliance which also resulted from our efforts to undertake this initiative.

We have created the practice and template for organizing international trade expos and linking businesses together in partnerships of mutual prosperity. Our philosophy is transparency and authenticity in our role as facilitators. Meaning, our focus is on creating tangible results – the real economy – through creation of jobs, infrastructure and earnings for investors and business owners. As we continue down this path and expand other markets and geography areas, we look forward to partnering with those like minded organizations, businesses and individuals who are equally committed to creating a new and vibrant economy across America and Africa.
